ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson says hes not fretting about his job security.Yet, its clearly on his mind.He certainly didnt shy away from it Tuesday.When asked during his weekly news conference whether an upset win at Virginia Tech helped ease some of the disappointments of the past two seasons, Johnson used the opportunity to staunchly defend his record with the Yellow Jackets.Truthfully, Ive never worried about that stuff, Johnson said, turning the question into a referendum on his nine seasons at the Atlantic Coast Conference school. Roberts said no doctors told him that surgery was more likely for the three-time National League Cy Young Award winner but inferred that based on the type of injury.With the way it flared up, its more of an indication that surgery is more of a possibility obviously with the way his back responded, Roberts said Wednesday. But were still hopeful that hes going to be back. When youre talking about the back, (surgery is) always an option.Roberts said Kershaw, whos 11-2 with a National League-leading 1.79 ERA, is doing more conservative exercises now and not performing any baseball activities with the goal of calming the back pain down.
