Carli Lloyds voice catches just briefly when she considers whether revealing the emotional scars of a longtime rift with her parents might someday bring her family back together. Its an ever-so-slight display off raw emotion from Lloyd, belying her usual no-nonsense exterior.Growing up my family meant the world to me. I would listen to every single thing they said. I would look forward to Christmases and Thanksgivings and just being with them, Lloyd said. And then to have this spiral, with not speaking to them, has really saddened me over the years. Its been hard because there have been so many joyous moments in my career and my life and they havent been a part of that. So you know, definitely down the road, Id love for things to work out and get back on track. Maybe this is a great opportunity for it to happen.Lloyd divulges that she has been estranged from her family since 2008 in her new memoir, When Nobody Was Watching: My Hard-Fought Journey to the Top of the Soccer World, which comes out on Monday.Although she is intensely private, she says the discord in her family has been part of her journey. She had to be totally honest with her co-author Wayne Coffey.I dont do fake, she said in an interview with The Associated Press, echoing a theme from the book.Lloyds rise culminated last year when she scored three goals in the World Cup final over Japan to win soccers biggest trophy. She was later named FIFA Womens World Player of the Year. But the 34-year-old midfielders career was peppered with setbacks. Lloyd was benched before the 2012 London Games by then-coach Pia Sundhage, who liked the combination of Shannon Boxx and Lauren Holiday. The demotion didnt last long because Boxx was injured in the opener.Lloyd started the rest of the way and scored both goals in the gold-medal match against Japan at Wembley Stadium. Shes the only player to score winning goals in consecutive Olympic finals: At the Beijing Games in 2008, she scored in overtime for a 1-0 victory against Brazil.By her side for the past 13 years has been James Galanis, her mentor and coach. Lloyd considered quitting the sport after college but her father approached Galanis after a training session and asked him to help his daughter.Lloyd is fiercely loyal to Galanis, crediting him with making her the athlete she is today. He endearingly refers to her as Ms. Lloyd in emails.Shes also loyal to another friend, goalkeeper Hope Solo. When Solo was ostracized from the national team during the 2007 World Cup for comments she made following the semifinal loss to Brazil, Lloyd stood by her. Coach Greg Ryan had decided to play Brianna Scurry in goal rather than Solo and the United States lost 4-0. Solo publicly questioned the decision.Hope and I werent actually close prior to this. We got into a little bit of an argument about a car situation when we were in residency in 2006. With her big personality and my strong personality, our egos clashed, Lloyd said, laughing. This 2007 moment, I didnt like what was happening. ... I thought to myself, `This isnt right.Solo has often been a lightning rod for controversy and is currently suspended from the U.S. team for six months after calling Sweden a bunch of cowards for their defensive tactics during the Rio Olympics. U.S. Soccer has said the suspension was the culmination of several missteps.Ive tried to wrap my head around the Olympics and just the way that we finished up, and Hopes comment, and her suspension, Lloyd said. Its weird. Its weird being in camp without her there, weird sitting on the bus and shes not across from me.I hope that in time after the suspension is over, after she settles down and U.S. soccer settles down, I hope that maybe they can come together and work it out.The United States was sent home from Brazil after the 1-1 draw with Sweden was decided by penalty kicks. It was the Americans earliest-ever exit from the Olympics after winning three straight gold medals. For now Lloyd is looking forward to the immediate future. First theres a book tour. In November shell marry high school sweetheart Brian Hollins.Ongoing are the collective bargaining agreement talks with U.S. Soccer. The teams current contract expires at the end of this year. The players are looking to bring their salaries more in line with those for players on the mens national team. Lloyd was among five players who drew national attention when they filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission charging the federation with wage discrimination.Things are moving along, she said about negotiations. Weve dealt with this before, where it gets down to the wire. Its not something to stress out about, its the nature of the business. We had a World Cup, we had the Olympics, so things have been pretty busy. But we do have some time before the new year.Beyond that, theres preparation for the 2019 World Cup in France and the 2020 Games in Japan. Lloyd will be 38 when the next quadrennial wraps up.I think the next three years of my journey is really all about enjoying the ride. Its going to be over in a blink of an eye, she said about her career. I owe it to myself, I owe it to James, and all of my support system, to just make the most of it. Kd Scarpe Basket Scontate .S. Air Max 97 False Come Riconoscerle .J. -- Marty Brodeur beat the Pittsburgh Penguins yet again. OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens are headed for a showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a Christmas Day matchup with all sorts of playoff implications.A victory puts the winner on the cusp of a division title while the loser will likely be on the outside of the Wild Card race, needing help to get in the postseason. The Ravens have won the past four matchups against their archrival and should be unfazed by the thousands of Terrible Towels waving at Heinz Field. Baltimore, however, would also likely need to beat Cincinnati in the regular-season finale to win their first AFC North crown since 2012.The situation we find ourselves in is something that weve been working hard for, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. Our guys have been fighting like crazy to go to Pittsburgh and then onto to Cincinnati to try and win a division championship. Theyve earned the right to do that and were fired up about it. We cant wait to play the game. With a victory over Pittsburgh, Baltimore (8-6) would sweep the season series and take over first place in the division. The Steelers (9-5) would clinch their seventh AFC North title with a win against Baltimore. Pittsburgh closes out its regular season with a home game against the winless Cleveland Browns. The players for Baltimore are energized by the challenge of playing the Steelers in what is sure to be a raucous crowd. This is what you live for, Ravens safety Eric Weddle said. Its all the hours, all the sacrifice, all the time, its for a chance to win the division and get into the dance. You hope and dream every day youre getting up at 6 a.m. or 5 a.m., you dont see your kids -- its for this chance, and its all worth it. Well be ready to roll, (theres) nothing more out there for us (than) to have a chance at the division against a rival team. Its going to be amazing. One key for Baltimore over the final two weeks of the regullar season will be establishing a more balanced offense.dddddddddddd Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has attempted 579 passes, while the the team has run the ball 325 times, ranked 27th in the NFL.The emphasis on throwing the ball almost ended Baltimores postseason hopes Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. It appeared the Ravens were about to put the game away when Flacco found receiver Mike Wallace for a 54-yard gain with just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter. With a 10-point lead, Baltimore could have just run the ball and settled for a field goal from the reliable Justin Tucker. However, Flacco threw an interception on the next play that helped Philadelphia get back in the game. The Ravens eventually stopped a 2-point conversion with four seconds remaining to preserve the 27-26 victory.Harbaugh said the decision to throw the ball was the all-time worst call ever. Flacco, however, defended the aggressiveness of offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.Well, you can say it all you want but, I mean, to be honest with you, my thought was `shoot, Marty is going to give me a third touchdown pass on the day, said Flacco, who was 16 of 30 for 206 yards with two touchdowns and the interception. I was kind of happy about it at that point, I mean, being selfish, but youve got to just to take care of the football and its a non-issue.Nonetheless, the Ravens earned the victory. Now, they control their own destiny for the postseason after a one-year hiatus. We want to win a Super Bowl, so we have to go through Pittsburgh next week to get there, running back Kenneth Dixon said. Thats what were going to do. Were going to go prepare and do our best.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL . ' ' '
