Sebastian Vettel has bemoaned Ferraris loss of pace in qualifying for the Monaco GP which prompted him to shout over the team radio the car is getting worse. Vettel will start Sundays showcase event from just fourth despite topping the timesheets in both final practice and the first segment of qualifying. But the Scuderia then effectively went backwards through the rest of the qualy hour as Vettel was relegated to fourth and team-mate Kimi Raikkonen just sixth - although the Finn will start from 11th due to a grid penalty for an unscheduled gearbox change. We started very quickly in Q1 and then, unfortunately, we werent able to maintain the progress. I havent discussed it with the team yet but l couldnt find the same grip l had in Q1, Vettel said. Although capable of outstanding pace, it appears Ferraris car is particularly sensitive to changes of temperature. We struggled to make the tyres work, they were on the edge of the grip, remarked Raikkonen.Vettel added: The positive news is that the car is very quick, it was very quick in practice this morning. It wasnt good on Thursday but we made a big step today and then werent able to carry it through. I dont think the laps at the end were a big surprise, l dont think they were out of range - it was just a case of us losing the rhythm.Watch the Monaco GP live on Sky Sports F1. Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson underwent surgery on Thursday for a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee, and the team issued a statement saying that there were no additional injuries or issues noted in or surrounding the knee joint during the surgical procedure. The Vikings said Petersons rehabilitation process will begin immediately. The 31-year-old Peterson opted for a full repair of his meniscus, rather than a trim that could have had him back in several weeks, after consulting with family and advisers. He has often said he believes he can play until his mid-30s, and his decision to have his meniscus fully repaired suggests he is planning to return in 2017. The full repair also lessens the risk of reinjury, as well as exposure to the possibility of arthritis. On Wednesday, a source told ESPN that Peterson also had a torn lateral collateral ligament. The Vikings had denied that, and Peterson texted ESPNs Josina Anderson saying, no torn LCL.Peterson, who was injured Sunday, told ESPN on Wednesday that he had a bucket handle tear of the meniscus, which typically has a minimum recovery time of three to four months. The Vikings did not issue a timetable for Petersons return on Thursday.Peterson slightly twisted his knee at the end of a 5-yard run Sunday against the Packers. His right foot was briefly stuck under the upper leg of Kyler Fackrell as the Packers linebacker brought him to the ground. Peterson left with 3:32 to play in the third quarter. The 2015 NFL rushing leader hobbled off the field with the assistance of athletic trainers. He spent four seasons with the Broncos, totaling 1,845 rushing yards. The injury to Peterson is the latest blow to the Vikings. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tore multiple knee ligaments on Aug. 30, and the team started the season with two quarterbacks after trading for Bradford on Sept. 3. The Vikings, though, are 2-0 and in sole possession of first place in the NFC North.Theyre resilient. Theyre tough. Theyre competitive, coach Mike Zimmer said. Obviously weve had a few setbacks, but I think we can go back to last year and think about some of the things that happened. Were not the type of team thats going to sit back and cry about whats happened. Were going to go forward. Try, like Ive said before, to find a way.Peterson, who has rushed for 50 yards on 31 carries this season, would carry a cap hit of $18 million for the Vikings into the 2017 season. If Peterson and the Vikings dont renegotiate the contract, a big decision would need to be made before the third day of the league year, when Peterson is due a $6 million bonus. If the Vikings choose to cut him before then, they would owe him nothing further and take no cap hit in 2017 as theres no guaranteed money in his $11.75 million base salary.ESPNs Ben Goessling contributed to this report.
