Troy Deeney has admitted that if Watford had not been promoted to the Premier League last season, he and several other players would have looked to move on. The Hornets overcame three managerial changes to seal their return to the top flight last season and currently sit comfortably in mid-table under Quique Sanchez Flores - their fourth boss in 18 months.Promotion seemed a long way off at the beginning of the 2014/15 campaign after they had finished in a disappointing 13th the season before but Deeney says it was crucial for his career that they secured it. We made the headlines for getting a new manager in every week! Deeney, speaking exclusively to Soccer Saturday ahead of a Saturday Night Football clash with Watford, told Sky Sports. From the players point of view, it didnt affect the dressing room too much. We had a strong mentality, and said to ourselves: This is going to be the year to go up.If we didnt, quite a few would have left - myself included - so we had a real good go and it worked out well.It has been brilliant so far. Everybody thought we were going to go down, with another new manager coming in and all the pundits didnt have us down for a win until December. Weve been upsetting the odds and playing some good stuff. Deeney celebrates THAT goal against Leicester The owners have come and it has worked. It isnt like they have come in and had a trial to see if it works. Theyve done the same at other clubs and thankfully it works here too. There have been a few mistakes along the way, in terms of people coming in and out, but the owners seem to have got it right. The Hornets take on Premier League success story Leicester in front of the Sky Sports cameras - a rematch of that famous 2012/13 play-off semi-final when Deeney grabbed an injury-time winner.Watford were beaten by Crystal Palace at the final hurdle that year, but Deeney admits that neither Leicester nor the Hornets were equipped for promotion back then and believes both benefited from a prolonged spell in the Championship to prepare for the rigours of the top flight. Ed Chamberlin and Jamie Redknapp preview Leicesters Saturday Night Football clash with Watford If either team would have gone up at that time, we would not have given ourselves a fighting chance in the Premier League, Deeney said.It didnt look like it at the time, but it worked out well for both clubs. Leicester had a fantastic season the season after and won the Championship. They then didnt start off well in the Premier League, but in the last 18 months it has become something of a fairy-tale.You have to look at them for inspiration. Robert Huth has been amazing, [NGolo] Kante has been getting all the headlines, but if you look at the rest of the team, then it is pretty much the team that went up. Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney have formed an impressive partnership at Watford You have to give them credit for that. They didnt come up and say that the Championship players were not good enough, and then went out and signed loads of Premier League players. Many doubted Deeney had the ability to make the step up to the top flight, but the Hornets skipper has formed one of the deadliest strike duos in the division with Odion Ighalo.Ive been here six or seven years now, and I am at the point where I have done all the hard stuff now, when there wasnt enough kit to go around, and now I am making sure I am here to enjoy the riches, Deeney added. Deeney has admitted that if Watford had not been promoted last season, he would have looked to move on The first season is always a feeling out season. Look at Jamie Vardy last year. Ive scored goals and made a few assists too.I am happy with my overall performance, and I am looking to finish the season strongly and do even better next year.Watch the full interview with Troy Deeney on Soccer Saturday from midday on SSNHQ and watch Watford v Leicester live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 5pm. Edinburgh bounced back from last weeks disappointing defeat to Zebre with a 28-17 Guinness PRO12 victory over Ulster at BT Murrayfield. The hosts were evidently desperate to atone for the previous weeks shock defeat and by half-time had established a 21-3 advantage through tries from Villiame Mata and Damien Hoyland, a conversion from Jason Tovey and a penalties from Blair Kinghorn and Duncan Weir (2).Magnus Bradbury then crossed after the interval with Tovey adding a second conversion. Ruan Pienaar kicked a first-half penalty for Ulster before converting second-half tries from Aaron Cairns and Jacob Stockdale and adding a penalty. With two minutes on the clock, Tovey almost sidestepped his way through the Ulster defence and when he was thwarted, Sean Kennedy fed the ball back to Mata, who crashed through two tackles to touch down and Tovey converted. The hosts continued to dominate and claimed a second try of the evening after nine minutes. Mata was again involved and when he was foiled, Kinghorn was hauled down just short but Hoyland was alert to the opportunity and picked up to plunge over.Tovey failed with the conversion attempt, but the momentum remained with Edinburgh and Kinghorn added three more points with a sweetly struck long-range penalty in the 16th minute.Ulster had been infrequent visitors to the home half but with 24 minutes played they earned a penalty 30 metres out and Pienaar was on target to get them on the board.Weir, who had just come on as a temporary replacement for Tovey, responded almost immediately, rifling a penalty between the sticks from close range.?The replacements next involvement was to have a kick ccharged down.ddddddddddddBut fortunately Kinghorn raced back to avert the danger as the ball ricocheted over the Edinburgh line.Weir shrugged off that error to make another positive contribution when he added three more points to complete the first-half scoring.Ulster made a lively start to the second period but handling errors and one bone-juddering tackle by Kinghorn prevented the visitors from capitalising on their spell in charge. And the home side capitalised on that failure seven minutes into the half when Cornell Du Preez broke from a scrum inside the Edinburgh half and fed Kennedy. He in turn released Mike Allen whose pass set Bradbury free for an impressive try which Tovey converted. Ulster responded with a powerful surge from Tommy Bowe who was held up over the line by Du Preez. The visitors thought they had clawed back five points when Charles Piatau raced onto a clever chip by Pienaar. However, to the displeasure of the Irish contingent in the 5,336 crowd, the referee ruled that he had not controlled the ball as he touched down.Edinburgh defended well for the next 10 minutes but their luck eventually ran out when Paul Marshall chipped ahead and Cairns out-muscled Tovey to pluck the ball out of the air and touch down. Pienaars conversion cut the deficit to 18 points.?The Irishmen gave themselves a glimmer of hope -- at least of a four-try bonus if not a win -- with eight minutes to play when Stockdale raced onto a flip pass from Rob Herring and darted in for a try which Pienaar again converted.
